Frequently Asked Questions
Why should we hire a professional officiant?
There are countless reasons to hire a professional wedding officiant as there is with all of the vendors for your celebration; the ceremony should be no exception. A professional officiant has had the opportunity to perform many rituals. While every wedding is different and there is always an opportunity for growth-- there is some wisdom that comes from performing these sacred rituals consistently. Weddings can become a very unpredictable environment and by using a professional officiant you will be fully supported throughout the ceremony.
All wedding professionals understand the commitment they make to every celebrant that hires them, and take that commitment seriously as a matter of professional integrity. Lastly, as your officiant I understand, respect, and work with you to ensure you get exactly what you want.
When should we hire our officiant?
I may be biased, but it is my belief that you should hire your officiant right away. I really hate to tell people I'm not available-- if you wait until the last minute there's a chance I will already be booked.
How long is a typical ceremony?
My typical wedding ritual is fifteen to twenty-five minutes long; it truly depends on your wishes and traditions.
You say that travel is subject to a surcharge. What does that mean?
My rates include travel. There are some cases where I need to charge a bit more to compensate fuel cost and time. I am happy to explain this more during your consult.
Do we need to go through premarital counseling in order to have you perform our wedding?
The state of Ohio does not require celebrants to have premarital counseling, however I do offer premarital spiritual guidance.
Where can we have our wedding?
I recommend you choose a location that is a reflection of your personalities. I have done weddings in banquet halls, outside in nature, private homes, breweries, museums, and more! I am happy to meet you at your preferred location.
Can we write our own vows?
Absolutely! I encourage my celebrants to consider writing their own vows, but it is not required. Need some guidance? Check out a blog I wrote to help get you started.
